The economy, Humder. If the economy is bad, tendency is to vote out whomever/whatever party is currently in.

Harry Reid is a worthless pussy, and Obama and crew are either in the tank, or so stupid and incompetent that they've got people wanting the Shrub back. No one has yet explained to me why the Dems were powerless to stop anything when Republicans were in control, and now they're powerless to do anything even when they had the super-majority. Actually no one has to explain that to me because I know why. The answer is just too depressing to contemplate. |

And there's now even less reason to hope things will improve.
In a ruling that has major implications for how elections are funded, the Supreme Court has struck down a key campaign-finance restriction that bars corporations and unions from pouring money into political ads. I think I'm going to be sick. |

The economy and health care weren't the real factors. Local and state elections are decided on local and state issues, as they should be. Rarely are the a "message to the President/party/people" as the media likes to report them as being. Massachusetts doesn't need national health care as they already have a fairly good system of their own.
Coakley ran a terrible race and is fairly unpopular outside of Boston. Thus, she lost. |
