Doing great, thanks. Wish My Great President had as much faith in the American people as I do. Anyone else a little disappointed?

Not really. It was an impossible situation he stepped into. I expected to be disappointed, in truth.

Not disappointed much at all. But I'm the only one here. I just picture Palin as president and it fixes everything...

I guess I had my expectations a little too high in certain areas. Really thought this President was uniquely poised to speak to the need for peace, equality and economic justice in our society. Hasn't really happened. I guess I wanted Roosevelt and I think I got Clinton instead. Which may be fine but not really the kind of change I want to believe in. I suppose it's fair to remember that Kennedy was something of a disappointment after a year and a half.

Hey Mick. 'Sup?
Anyone else a little disappointed? Yeah. Could be worse, I guess. I really don't understand what Obama is trying to accomplish? Is he trying to do just enough to get another Bush elected without causing riots in the streets (again). |

SA,
How you been? Hope your health has come around. If you're still feeling shaky you'll want to stay away from the tube on Sept. 25th. That's the day My Great Bearcats will be knocking the shit out of your beloved Sooners. As for the President, it's the reaching out that keeps driving nuts. What the fuck? I don't want Rovian horseshit but, damn, don't we fundamentally disagree with these people? He doesn't have to demonize them but for chrsissakes explain how we're different and why our ideas are better. Btw, anybody wanna drill off the coast of Virginia anytime soon? |

If you're still feeling shaky you'll want to stay away from the tube on Sept. 25th. That's the day My Great Bearcats will be knocking the shit out of your beloved Sooners. I think I've finally reached the point in my cynicism about Oklahoma that I'm beginning to enjoy seeing them get mud-stomped by brie-eating Northern elites*, so I hope you're right (this time) . Did you notice how many Sooners were 1st round draft picks? I think I could coach a team to a nat'l title with that much talent. (I know the great Barry Switzer could). At least the Rams are now poised to make another Superbowl run with the greatest qb in the history of mankind.Yes, even better than Art Schlichter. As for the President, it's the reaching out that keeps driving nuts. What the fuck? I don't want Rovian horseshit but, damn, don't we fundamentally disagree with these people? He doesn't have to demonize them but for chrsissakes explain how we're different and why our ideas are better. That's exactly my reaction -- WTF? How many more good progressives ideas are going to get watered down by months of compromise with nothing in return, just so we can raise the bipartisanship up to where we get zero Republican votes? *Not satisfied with having the two dumbest Senators ever, we are now preparing to elect a governor who makes Inhofe look like Adlai Stevenson. |

Mickey Devine wrote: Under different circumstances I'd probably find it funny -- like if it was happening to someone other than me. Senator Randy Brogdon Says Militia Comments Taken Out of Context Gubernatorial candidate and State Senator Randy Brogdon claimed he never said the word "militia" when he was quoted by the Associated Press as saying "the second amendment deals directly with the right of an individual to keep and bear arms to protect themselves from an overreaching federal government." also this: Senator Randy Brogdon Stands Behind Fried Chicken Remark About Health Care State Senator Randy Brogdon is refusing to apologize for a remark that offended the Oklahoma Legislative Black Caucus during debate of the federal health care mandate. There is a giant Brogdon for Governor sign in the front window of where I work. I'm now in my third week of working from home. |

Yeah. Could be worse, I guess. I really don't understand what Obama is trying to accomplish? Is he trying to do just enough to get another Bush elected without causing riots in the streets (again). Anyone else a little disappointed? I suppose I need to change my answer a little. I'm disappointed but not because he hasn't met expectations, (...ssssaaaayyy weren't you two the ones saying how Obama was just another run of the mill politician? That may be true but surely he's met those expectations right? I guess I'm wondering how you got from low expectations to disappointed. ) I'm disappointed on the same level as when I lose the lottery or I don't wake up sandwiched between HKW and Lucy Liu. He hasn't saved the world yet and probably won't. I read this and I thought it was pretty good insight on how presidential decisions are made. |
