Remove this ad Its quite a coincidence the way so many big independent tax-exempt Christian evangelicals always seem to find themselves siding with the Republicans despite the scriptures on Jesus supporting big business being pretty rare, even in the worst conservative translations, and he even acquiesces to big government regarding taxes at one point. It happens so often you could almost think they were coordinating with and actively promoting Republicans or something, but that just can't be because that would be a violation of their tax-free status and love gifters to their anointed ministries would be sinfully deprived of the double blessing of financially backing the righteous condemnation of all those slutty bitches that have more sex than them, while simultaneously starving the beast. Just spin the wheel with one random issue .. say national healthcare .. and one random Christian group .. say Focus on the Family. So what do these concerned Christians, with their finely tuned understanding of the will of Jeebus say God wants us to do? They'd like to support it, it being humane and all, but dadgum it .. sometimes what was meant for good the Devil can turn to evil. Admittedly, it's a complex issue. [Praise god we're here to tell you what you need to know] For some, there is a genuine and sincere appeal to its passage, centered on a desire to help those families least able to help themselves. Few would fail to acknowledge the real pain of those most in need; those who are unable to access necessary care for themselves and their loved ones. [That's so sweet and charitable .. sounding] As the head of an organization devoted to helping families thrive, I'm keenly aware of the challenges befalling moms and dads all around the country. As we have been since our inception in 1977, we're fully committed to advocating for the health and well-being of America's citizens. Hooray! Focus on the Family is with us! Except here comes the dadgum part: But sometimes you can actually do more harm trying to help if you're going about it the wrong way. "The nine most terrifying words in the English language," former President Ronald Reagan once said, "are, 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'" He was likely echoing the sentiments of Thomas Paine, one of our Founding Fathers. "That government is best which governs least" he famously said. We would be wise to heed their words. That's our source for our fallacious appeals to authority? Reagan and Paine? A guy who never went to church and who took advice from his wife's astrologer, and the author of The Age of Reason? Let's get down to the theological meat here -- we know what we have to lead with. The Christianist Right's number one nukular option -- abortion. You Liberals may think you're going to get the insurance and healthcare corporations to give something back, but it won't be before we hang big "BABY KILLER" signs around your necks. Regardless of where you stand on the need or wisdom of the overall reform, I do believe one aspect of this legislation is more troubling than any other. As currently drafted, taxpayers would be forced to pay for abortions- Horrors! No, wait .. that's not horrible enough. Let's horr it up some more: -and doctors and hospitals that refuse to perform abortions may be forced to close their doors rather than violate their religious beliefs or moral convictions. This would include some of the finest facilities throughout the union. Of course this last part is complete horseshit, but I'm sure JC wouldn't mind a little Noble Lying if its for a good cause. What a travesty and outrage to think that those within the medical community who have committed their lives to the preservation of the sanctity of life will be silenced. My heart aches at the thought of precious viable babies being slain-with the use of our tax dollars! What a terrible step backward; how could this be allowed to happen in the United States of America? But what other ministerial authorities were consulted? In her recent Wall Street Journal column, Peggy Noonan [ ]wrote the following: "putting abortion in the mix takes the Christian out of Christian Democrat. It breaks and jangles the coalition, telling those who believe abortion is evil that they not only have to accept its legality but now have to pay for it in a brand new plan, for which they'll be more highly taxed. This is taking a knife to your own supporters." I think I'll check in with D(ead) James Kennedy's Coral Ridge Ministries next. I wonder what side they'll be on?

08/12/09 9:09 AM	When I started this hobby I was thinking internet searches would make pretty short work of tying all these seemingly disparate missionary organizations back to the right-wing groups that support them. The idea being to gather data for a sort of Grand Unification Theory of American Bible-based wingnuttery. It's not really difficult to make connections, but the "Christian" Right seems to have evolved a strategy that makes it a little bit harder than just making a pie-chart or spreadsheet showing the wish-list of the corporate whores of the GOP (and Blue Dogs) cross-referenced to position statements from various ministries. I can't find, for example, a clear statement on the wisdom of drilling for oil in ANWR or other protected areas from Saddleback Church, or even Coral Ridge. Maybe they decided they have to be a bit more circumspect than they have been in the past. (Though Coral Ridge does have a video attacking Cap & Trade). What I found instead is that trying to nail any single ministry down on the full range of Big Business interests was like going down a wormhole .. a wormhole where you find yourself emerging in places like The Cornwall Alliance: The Cornwall Alliance is a coalition of clergy, theologians, religious leaders, scientists, academics, and policy experts committed to bringing a balanced Biblical view of stewardship to the critical issues of environment and development. The Cornwall Alliance fully supports the principles espoused in the Cornwall Declaration on Environmental Stewardship, and is seeking to promote those principles in the discussion of various public policy issues including population and poverty, food, energy, water, endangered species, habitat, and other related topics. Sounds really super-duper Christ-like. So what's up? Their biggest move to promote "environmental stewardship" appears to be running a slideshow of koalas and coral reefs on their webpage. Otherwise "stewardship" compels them to offer articles such as: Crippling an Already Struggling Michigan Economy Cornwall Alliance Asserts Upcoming Clean Energy Rally in Lansing to Do More Harm Than Good to State Economy Evangelicals Say Poor, Minorities Will Be Hardest Hit By Climate Legislation Religious Coalition Calls On Congress To Care For "The Least Of These" [the caring evangelicals referenced above are themselves, btw] "We Get It!" Campaign Kicks Off Effort to Enlist One Million Signers On Landmark Statement New Declaration Embraces Biblical Stewardship but Rejects Environmental Hype that Threatens the Poor This last one caught my eye because it lists a veritable Who's Who of godly environmental action heroes and friends of the poor: A national coalition of pastors, Christian leaders, and policy makers announced the launch of the "We Get It!" campaign aimed at enlisting one million Christians on a new, historic statement on environment and poverty. The campaign, which has been endorsed by Dr. James Dobson, Dr. Richard Land, U.S. Senator James Inhofe, U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, Tony Perkins, Rev. Dr. James Tonkowich, historian(sic) David Barton, Dr. E. Calvin Beisner, singer Pat Boone, as well as nearly a hundred pastors and a growing host of national and state organizations, calls on Christians to add their name at www.WeGetIt.org. If you have some time on your hands, go through this whole list and see if you can find one other time any of them have ever voiced any concern for "the poor" that doesn't also coincide perfectly with the concerns of the super-rich. 08/20/09 2:07 PM	Renew America is supposedly the creation of Alan Keyes, the professionally indignant black guy the Republicans like to celebrate as proof of their diversity and racial tolerance. As you might surmise from the name, it is a "Patriot" organization with a clear message: RenewAmerica is a grassroots organization that supports the self-evident truths found in the Declaration of Independence, and their faithful application through upholding the U.S. Constitution, as written. Its purpose, therefore, is to thoughtfully and courageously advance the cause of our nation's Founders. The organization is for ALL people who consider themselves loyal Americans. It has no philosophy, image, or agenda beyond this one unifying premise: *America must return to its founding principles if it is to survive.* [emphasis in original] Without delving too deeply into the evidence for that mission statement, it strikes me a bit odd that Alan Keyes would even want to pretend to this crazy originalism . If it were actually adopted, he would immediately become 3/5ths of a human being -- which I guess would make a good fit with his 3/5ths of a brain, but it doesn't seem exactly fair to all the other descendants of slaves who probably aren't so fondly remembering the good ol' days. Renew America truly has no philosophy or agenda and features writers who represent a diversity of loyal American viewpoints ranging from Warner Todd Huston to Selwyn Duke. Most of them you've likely never heard of, unless you are a real patriot. Like this guy -- Russ J. Alan. A man who is difficult to satirize, since this is what he actually writes: Let's start praying to Satan. Let's start telling him where he's gone wrong, tell him how great Jehovah God is and about the free gift of salvation he can have if he only trusts Jesus. I'm sure he would repent, and then we can throw the Bible away, and there would be peace on earth. Judgment day wouldn't need to happen. Let's go "across the aisle" and teach the demons why our way is right and how they are headed for certain destruction unless they repent - while we are at it, let's preach to the CHOIR the truths they already know day after day. Just like our forefathers did - they taught the British all about freedom and inalienable rights, and the British came around to their way of thinking and they gave us the Country, right? So is this going to be a diatribe against the uselessness of prayer? The stupidity of believing that evil spirits are influencing human beings to embrace socialism and wear their pants below their underwear? Sorry, but no. Two hundred something years ago they of course didn't have AM radio, but if they did, I'll bet they would have had their equivalent of Glenn Beck in the morning, followed by their version of Rush Limbaugh in a powdered wig, from noon till three, followed by a little Sean Hannity kind of guy with a pony tail and wearing tights playing "Let Freedom Ring" at the top of every hour. The three of them would be convincing the Torries of the error of their way of thinking while Jefferson, Adams, Franklin and those guys were going across the aisle and working out a "bi-partisan" deal with the King. What American Revolution? HUH? Is this guy under the impression that the radio patriots are trying to convince Dems and Libs of the error of their ways? I thought they were just trying to convince the feeble-minded that Obama and his New Black Panthers were conpiring to shove salt-of-the-earth white people into gas chambers. How much more could they do in a democracy? We modern conservatives self-righteously compare ourselves to the patriots because we read Mark Levin's book on tyranny and we have a copy of the Constitution in our shirt pockets. Yes. This is absolutely correct. So .. ? Let me tell you the real difference: Our forefathers WON our freedom. We are LOSING IT. The revolutionary soldiers took up arms and risked their lives and WON our freedom - not by compromise, not by "talk talk talk talk, talk," but by the shedding of blood. One of the biggest freedoms won was called "representative democracy." See, if you recall your US history, King George didn't allow Americans to have much say about how we were treated. We weren't given the chance to throw him out through an election. Who wants us to lose that? Oh .. it looks like our loyal American author does: While we are giving equal time to Jeraldo(sic) Rivera and Bob Beckel (who I could be convinced IS Satan), and on the radio doing our BUY GOLD[in exchange for worthless dollars], GoToMy[SPYWARE]PC.com and Fowers[in a pasteboard box that she arranges herself].com commercials Paul Harvey style, our forefathers are rolling over in their graves, screaming their souls out, "FIGHT 'EM! DON'T TRY TO CONVINCE THEM, YOU ARE L O S I N G T H E C O U N T R Y !!!" I told you this would be hard to satirize. Also hard to comprehend, but I believe what we are supposed to learn from that outburst is that the author has the psychic ability to channel freedom thoughts from Revolutionary War figures -- and they don't like darkies in the White House. But he's just getting warmed up. The Onion couldn't improve on this last part, so I'll just quote the whole enchilada, with some added emphasis: Oh we preach the Bible as the "inerrant word of God." We believe that Jesus cast demons out of people. We believe He cast seven out of Mary Magdalene and on another occasion demons left a boy and entered some pigs who immediately ran into the sea and drowned...but we don't believe that kind of thing goes on anymore. We as conservatives just don't get it that anyone who would vote for killing babies but saving trees and seals, allowing two homosexual men the right to adopt, teaching masturbation, proper condom installation, and homosexual sex to school children, taking away tax-exempt status from Caucasian churches who would dare speak conservative politics from the pulpit, disallowing prayer and Bibles in schools and outlawing the word Christmas while protecting pornography as free speech, legislation that allows divorce for any reason, giving huge cash rewards to wives who seek divorces[?], breaking up the American family and creating "dead-beat" dads, etc, etc, etc., - we don't treat it for what it is - demonic possession. No, instead, we feel like we can teach them the error of their political thinking, or come across the aisle in bi-partisan compromise. [bi-partisan compromise?] Are we going to win this battle against the demonic, Godless communists the way the Hebrew people took back the land of Israel, or are we going to continue to lose our freedoms bit by bit and then scratch our heads wondering why "healthy debate" and the democratic process doesn't work for us over and over again? So who is this guy anyway? Some old combat vet yearning to test his manhood on the field of battle again? Russ J. Alan is a political philosophist[?] and writer. He served in the Department of Defense in Europe during the Cold War under President Reagan (1980-82). I have a feeling that when the bloodshed he's calling for starts, you won't be seeing Russ spending much time on the front. I can't find out much about him, but if he's old enough to have worked for the DoD in Europe under Reagan, he's probably old enough to have volunteered for Viet Nam, but he doesn't mention any military service at all. Probably too modest. The scary part is .. this kind of stuff is typical for Renew America. If you don't believe me, go here and browse around a bit. Personally, I can't wait to have an old codger explain how feminism portends the rise of a new master race.

It is a map of the US by religious affiliation -- from here: Valpo.edu This one shows the concentration of Baptists. Ignorance is practically a tenet of the Baptist faith (and faith is denying the evidence of things seen). In the movie, A River Runs Through It, the pastor father insults Methodists by saying they are "just Baptists that can read." I've always thought that was pretty apt. Some history of Southern Baptists: About 1861, the Baptist organization came to be identified with the South, and became the dominant religious denomination within this region. During this time, the Southern Baptist Convention was held in Savannah, Georgia, where the delegates clearly identified themselves with secession and everything Southern. They defended the right of the South to secede, pledged themselves to the Confederacy, and submitted the phrase "Southern States of North America" in the Southern Baptist constitution where it had formerly said "United States." It was during the Civil War, and the period of Reconstruction, that Baptists living in the South became Southern Baptists. The Southern Baptist Convention was formed in 1845, but it was not until this denomination underwent a "baptism in blood" during the Great War that their identity became clear. It was during this period that the denomination became deeply involved in the anti-Yankee force. In the post-war period, Southern Baptists participated deeply in the custom and experiences of the emerging Southern control. ... Emphasis was given first priority on their division from the North. All this happened during the face of defeat at the hands of the Union army. The South decided that if it did not have a separate identity from the North, then its goal was to have a cultural one. Logic in the Southern minds was the North had won the battle, but the South could win over the hearts and attitude of its people. The Southern Baptists quickly seized upon this situation and enthusiastically struggled together to remain strictly Southern. The denomination ultimately played a role in shaping the existing attitude in the region during the last three decades on the 19th Century. In 1872, Baptists refused to include black members in their official numbers, and were still passing declarations concerning slavery as late as 1892. But if you need hard evidence, just look at the picture. Those people are waving large American flags. That should be all the proof you need. Obama's Political Origins -Lisa Schiffren Until I came across this article by Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media, which I regard as factual - with all that that implies - the questions about Obama's background that should have come naturally never quite rose to the surface of my mind. Barack Obama is the new man, of course. His mixed race is a symbol of that. Just like Tiger Woods - as we have read, endlessly. What's to wonder about? But maybe it's not so simple. Obama and I are roughly the same age. I grew up in liberal circles in New York City - a place to which people who wished to rebel against their upbringings had gravitated for generations. And yet, all of my mixed race, black/white classmates throughout my youth, some of whom I am still in contact with, were the product of very culturally specific unions. They were always the offspring of a white mother, (in my circles, she was usually Jewish, but elsewhere not necessarily) and usually a highly educated black father. And how had these two come together at a time when it was neither natural nor easy for such relationships to flourish? Always through politics. No, not the young Republicans. Usually the Communist Youth League. Or maybe a different arm of the CPUSA. But, for a white woman to marry a black man in 1958, or 60, there was almost inevitably a connection to explicit Communist politics. (During the Clinton Administration we were all introduced to then U. of Pennsylvania Professor Lani Guinier - also a half black/half Jewish, red diaper baby.) I don't know how Barak Obama's parents met. But the Kincaid article referenced above makes a very convincing case that Obama's family, later, (mid 1970s) in Hawaii, had close relations with a known black Communist intellectual. And, according to what Obama wrote in his first autobiography, the man in question - Frank Marshall Davis - appears to have been Barack's own mentor, and even a father figure. Of course, since the Soviet Union itself no longer exists, it's an open question what it means practically to have been politically mentored by an official Communist. Ideologically, the implications are clearer. Political correctness was invented precisely to prevent the mainstream liberal media from persuing the questions which might arise about how Senator Obama's mother, from Kansas, came to marry an African graduate student. Love? Sure, why not? But what else was going on around them that made it feasible? Before readers level cheap accusations of racism - let's recall that the very question of interracial marriage only became a big issue later in the 1960s. The notion of a large group of mixed race Americans became an issue during and after the Vietnam War. Even the civil-rights movement kept this culturally explosive matter at arm's distance. It was, of course, an explicit tactic of the Communist party to stir up discontent among American blacks, with an eye toward using them as the leading edge of the revolution. To be sure, there was much to be discontented about, for black Americans, prior to the civil-rights revolution. To their credit, of course, most black Americans didn't buy the commie line - and showed more faith in the possibilities of democratic change than in radical politics, and the results on display in Moscow. Eastland is best known for his strong support of White Supremacy and for his bitter opposition of the American Civil Rights Movement. When the Supreme Court issued its decision in the landmark case Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas 347 US 483 (1954), Eastland, like most southern Democrats, denounced it. In a speech given in Senatobia, Mississippi on August 12, 1955, he said: "On May 17, 1954, the Constitution of the United States was destroyed because of the Supreme Court's decision. You are not obliged to obey the decisions of any court which are plainly fraudulent [and based on] sociological considerations." Moreover, Eastland called Brown illegal and proclaimed that "resistance to tyranny is obedience to God," a slogan held by white southerners engaged in the Massive Resistance movement (e.g., White Citizens' Council, John Birch Society). He testified to the Senate 10 days after the Brown decision came down: "The Southern institution of racial segregation or racial separation was the correct, self-evident truth which arose from the chaos and confusion of the Reconstruction period. [President Lyndon]Johnson once said that, "Jim Eastland could be standing right in the middle of the worst Mississippi flood ever known, and he'd say the niggers caused it, helped out by the Communists." ... During the 1950s, Eastland was among many legislators who used an exaggerated threat of Communism for his own political agenda. Eastland served on a subcommittee investigating the Communist Party. As chairman of the Internal Security Subcommittee, he subpoenaed some employees of The New York Times, which was at the time taking a strong position on its editorial page that Mississippi should adhere to the Brown decision. If it were actually adopted, he would immediately become 3/5ths of a human being -- which I guess would make a good fit with his 3/5ths of a brain, but it doesn't seem exactly fair to all the other descendants of slaves who probably aren't so fondly remembering the good ol' days. Renew America truly has no philosophy or agenda and features writers who represent a diversity of loyal American viewpoints ranging from Warner Todd Huston to Selwyn Duke. Most of them you've likely never heard of, unless you are a real patriot. Like this guy -- Russ J. Alan. A man who is difficult to satirize, since this is what he actually writes: Let's start praying to Satan. Let's start telling him where he's gone wrong, tell him how great Jehovah God is and about the free gift of salvation he can have if he only trusts Jesus. I'm sure he would repent, and then we can throw the Bible away, and there would be peace on earth. Judgment day wouldn't need to happen. Let's go "across the aisle" and teach the demons why our way is right and how they are headed for certain destruction unless they repent - while we are at it, let's preach to the CHOIR the truths they already know day after day. Just like our forefathers did - they taught the British all about freedom and inalienable rights, and the British came around to their way of thinking and they gave us the Country, right? So is this going to be a diatribe against the uselessness of prayer? The stupidity of believing that evil spirits are influencing human beings to embrace socialism and wear their pants below their underwear? Sorry, but no. Two hundred something years ago they of course didn't have AM radio, but if they did, I'll bet they would have had their equivalent of Glenn Beck in the morning, followed by their version of Rush Limbaugh in a powdered wig, from noon till three, followed by a little Sean Hannity kind of guy with a pony tail and wearing tights playing "Let Freedom Ring" at the top of every hour. The three of them would be convincing the Torries of the error of their way of thinking while Jefferson, Adams, Franklin and those guys were going across the aisle and working out a "bi-partisan" deal with the King. What American Revolution? HUH? Is this guy under the impression that the radio patriots are trying to convince Dems and Libs of the error of their ways? I thought they were just trying to convince the feeble-minded that Obama and his New Black Panthers were conpiring to shove salt-of-the-earth white people into gas chambers. How much more could they do in a democracy? We modern conservatives self-righteously compare ourselves to the patriots because we read Mark Levin's book on tyranny and we have a copy of the Constitution in our shirt pockets. Yes. This is absolutely correct. So .. ? Let me tell you the real difference: Our forefathers WON our freedom. We are LOSING IT. The revolutionary soldiers took up arms and risked their lives and WON our freedom - not by compromise, not by "talk talk talk talk, talk," but by the shedding of blood. One of the biggest freedoms won was called "representative democracy." See, if you recall your US history, King George didn't allow Americans to have much say about how we were treated. We weren't given the chance to throw him out through an election. Who wants us to lose that? Oh .. it looks like our loyal American author does: While we are giving equal time to Jeraldo(sic) Rivera and Bob Beckel (who I could be convinced IS Satan), and on the radio doing our BUY GOLD[in exchange for worthless dollars], GoToMy[SPYWARE]PC.com and Fowers[in a pasteboard box that she arranges herself].com commercials Paul Harvey style, our forefathers are rolling over in their graves, screaming their souls out, "FIGHT 'EM! DON'T TRY TO CONVINCE THEM, YOU ARE L O S I N G T H E C O U N T R Y !!!" I told you this would be hard to satirize. Also hard to comprehend, but I believe what we are supposed to learn from that outburst is that the author has the psychic ability to channel freedom thoughts from Revolutionary War figures -- and they don't like darkies in the White House. But he's just getting warmed up. The Onion couldn't improve on this last part, so I'll just quote the whole enchilada, with some added emphasis: Oh we preach the Bible as the "inerrant word of God." We believe that Jesus cast demons out of people. We believe He cast seven out of Mary Magdalene and on another occasion demons left a boy and entered some pigs who immediately ran into the sea and drowned...but we don't believe that kind of thing goes on anymore. We as conservatives just don't get it that anyone who would vote for killing babies but saving trees and seals, allowing two homosexual men the right to adopt, teaching masturbation, proper condom installation, and homosexual sex to school children, taking away tax-exempt status from Caucasian churches who would dare speak conservative politics from the pulpit, disallowing prayer and Bibles in schools and outlawing the word Christmas while protecting pornography as free speech, legislation that allows divorce for any reason, giving huge cash rewards to wives who seek divorces[?], breaking up the American family and creating "dead-beat" dads, etc, etc, etc., - we don't treat it for what it is - demonic possession. No, instead, we feel like we can teach them the error of their political thinking, or come across the aisle in bi-partisan compromise. [bi-partisan compromise?] Are we going to win this battle against the demonic, Godless communists the way the Hebrew people took back the land of Israel, or are we going to continue to lose our freedoms bit by bit and then scratch our heads wondering why "healthy debate" and the democratic process doesn't work for us over and over again? So who is this guy anyway? Some old combat vet yearning to test his manhood on the field of battle again? Russ J. Alan is a political philosophist[?] and writer. He served in the Department of Defense in Europe during the Cold War under President Reagan (1980-82). I have a feeling that when the bloodshed he's calling for starts, you won't be seeing Russ spending much time on the front. I can't find out much about him, but if he's old enough to have worked for the DoD in Europe under Reagan, he's probably old enough to have volunteered for Viet Nam, but he doesn't mention any military service at all. Probably too modest. The scary part is .. this kind of stuff is typical for Renew America. If you don't believe me, go here and browse around a bit. The thing that's supposed to make that sort of post really hit home is the underlying concrete truth. There's not a shred of it on the page other than, I assume, your name. Your unicorn propaganda is anchored by zero facts, none, and the one single link you provide is to a Biblical saw. Congratulations, you're preaching to your own choir--not very courageous of you. Let me provide you an example of how to hold up one side of the discourse, some recent history: 9/11 was a gut-wrenching failure of the government to protect thousands of its citizens, and it happened while George W. Bush was Commander in Chief. The country of Iraq was not involved in the 9/11 attacks, yet the Bush Administration attacked it, resulting in the eventual deaths of thousands more Americans and tens of thousands of innocent women and children. The final, violent collapse of the economy also occurred on President Bush's watch. The initial multi-hundred-billion dollar payout, meant to address the disaster, was designed and carried out by President George W. Bush, his administration and Henry Paulson. Those things, we can both agree, are the cold hard facts. Let's start there and work forward. Okay? Now it's your turn:

If there's a way to square that, then maybe Russ can explain how a Christian can reconcile his beliefs with Randian Reagonomics. But I don't think that's possible.

09/22/09 9:45 PM	There are some scoops here: ... not to mention President Clinton's and Vice Pagan Albert Gore's planning of the 2001 attack on the World Trade Center that killed over 3000 people - all were blamed on...you guessed it... President George W. Bush. Why is it when right wingers do things, like conspire to usurp elections threatening senseless bloodshed, its called patriotism -- but when normal people do things like act together hoping to ensure their neighbors are cared for its socialism. But we see where this Values Voter's real values actually lay -- in blame-fixing and power acquisition, without regard to the good of our country: Do we want the economic effects of Obama's first term in the White House to be blamed on a conservative president in what could have been Obama's second term? Even Ronald Reagan would be unable to fix the economic mess that is certainly coming as a result of the Obama administration, and it ain't gonna take two terms for the tsunami to hit. We must vote the Democrats out of Congress in 2010, but we could really use the incumbent President in the White House for his second term. The conservatives will OWN the White House after that. In other words, with a Republican majority in Congress obstructing everything that might help the middle and lower classes, Russ and his friends can make the Democrat President take the blame for eight years of circling the drain.
