Do you think a close friendship between a heterosexual male and a heterosexual female is unusual when there has never been any elements of sexuality in the friendship?
This thought struck me the other day when talking to a close female friend who I have never had any sexual contact with. We were talking about her other male friendships and how they have almost all ways led to being sexual in some way or falling out because of sexual rejection. The stereotype of homosexual men having lots of female friends then suddenly made sense to me.
Of course males and females can become acquaintances but are close friendships over many years unusual? Especially with people of my age (19)?
