Hitchens kills Clinton, too. Both of them. But he's still awesome.

Yeah, I've come around on Hitchens although he still won't admit that Iraq wasn't harboring Al Qaida, you know, before the war started. He wrote "Unfahrenheit 911" which I'm having a hard time forgiving him for. Definitely a hawk, somewhat of a pompous dick but when he's on he's deadly.

I can accept his view on the War because I think he sincerely believes in it and he's intellectually honest about it. He was offered the chance to be waterboarded by Vanity Fair and he took them up on it. About twelve seconds in he said for all to hear "Oh, fuck yes, that's torture. No doubt about it." I think he sees an enemy and a danger that's real but his solution(invasion, occupation, etc.) has been an utter and complete disaster. He rails against Abu Graib and Haditha but doesn't see that those are the inevitable result of having an occupying Army in a country that doesn't want them.

I have no problem with people seeing the world differently than me as long as they can articulate a reason why they have those views. I hear friends who are more Conservative complain about Obama but almost to a person when I ask what he's done that's so offensive to them they either cannot come up with one single thing or they throw out things that are demonstrably and provably wrong. I used to try and help them make their arguments but that just got embarrassing. Stuff like "Sure you can oppose the stimulus and it's 280 billion dollars in middle class tax cuts..." or "Hey, I understand if your philosophically opposed to the government being involved in health care. Should we shut down Medicaid, Medicare and the VA? The FDA, The CDC..." Good times, good times. Kind of a pompous dick myself now that I think about it.
